Board Elections 2008

Candidates

President - Cheryl LaPalme - Ran unopposed and is automatically elected for the position of President for the 2008-2009 Season.
Secretary - Evy Leach - Ran unopposed and is automatically elected for the position of Secretary for the 2008-2009 Season.
Treasurer - Magdalena Curbelo - Ran unopposed and is automatically elected for the position of Treasurer for the 2008-2009 Season.

Vice President - Kathy Dodson - Will be running against Jason Barnett for the position of Vice President for the 2008-2009 Season.

This year we have decided to do the elections a little different.  We are going to allow the members to vote online.  Be assured that each member will have their vote and only one vote per member.

My name is Kathy Dodson and I’m running for the office of Vice President for the Florida Panthers Booster Club.  I am uniquely qualified for this position having held it for the past four years.  As Vice President, it’s my job to increase membership and one of the ways I’ve done that is by implementing  a program which rewards current members with Panthers Bucks (usable at all Panthers home games) for bringing in new members.  This program has done very well and can be credited with about a 20% increase in membership since the year prior to using it.

During my time as Vice President, I have been appointed to the position of Booth Coordinator (and have held that position for over four years).  I have also been in charge of getting several guest speakers for our meetings, arranged a private tour of the arena for our members, participated in a number of Booster Club sponsored fundraisers, worked at the Metro Zoo Metro Boo booth during Halloween, volunteered our company shop so that we could decorate our float during last year’s Candy Cane Parade, spearheaded a personal campaign to get more Booster Club members to the annual National Hockey League Booster Club Conventions (held every August), and speak openly and often about the merits of being a Booster Club member.

I am currently employed with the Florida Panthers Hockey Club, and have been for the past two years.  During my time with the Panthers Organization, I’ve earned a number of awards including the “Panthers Pride” award which is given to the one person in the company who is the ultimate fan, showing both dedication and enthusiasm. 

In addition to my duties as a Panthers employee, I am also secretary for the Florida Panthers Alumni Association and work very closely with Randy Moller coordinating events at our arena as well as putting together events specifically for the alumni.

I have known Kathy Dodson for 8 years, and can truly endorse her for any and all Florida Panthers Booster Club board positions.  Kathy’s passion, commitment, and dedication towards Panther hockey, and the growth of the sport in South Florida, is evident in her current positions on the Booster and Alumni boards.  Kathy’s “team first” mentality is a great asset for the Panthers organization, and her positive attitude is much appreciated by all who are involved with her on a daily basis.

My goals for next year continue to be the growth and development of our club.  I would like to see more members involved and get the word out to non-members so that they will join us in supporting the Florida Panthers.  I thank you in advance for considering me for this office.  I would truly be grateful for your support because I love being part of the Boosters and I would be honored to once again be your Vice President.

Greetings I'm Jason Barnett and I'm running to become your next Vice President of the Florida Panthers Booster Club.  Let me tell you all a little about myself, I have been in South Florida for 21 years and I have done a lot of different things here.  I know a lot of people in Ft Lauderdale since I was in radio and worked for a few stations in South Florida.  As your Vice President I will be there for you and my door is always open for new ideas and I will always listen to what you have to say.  I have also been a travel agent for 5 years so it won't be a problem to get different things for a bus trip up to Tampa for a road game or something to that idea.  I already said I will work on things for when the Florida Panther Booster Club host the convention for different clubs from around the NHL.  I have always been a hockey fan since I was 12 years old when I used to go to Islander games back when I lived in New York (Rangers who are they) so I know what hockey is all about.
